What is Queer Poem Club?
Queer Poem Club is a physical monthly subscription hosted by Long Live the Bookstore. Every month, we will mail subscribers a single poem written by a queer author, as well as a brief letter highlighting the poet and their creative process. The poem will be printed on quality postcard cardstock, perfect for framing or gifting.
Button labelAre poets paid?
We currently pay $25 to accepted submissions, and will mail you Queer Poem Club for free the month we feature your poem. (We are hoping as we grow Queer Poem Club to pay out a percentage of sales instead of a flat fee.)
Button labelWho can submit?
We encourage submissions from previously published poets, unpublished poets, casual poets, drunk-and-in-my-feels poets, and all manner of wordsmiths who may or may not call themselves poets but nonetheless have the urge to write in stanzas. We also strongly encourage those with intersecting identities to submit. This is a low-stakes, accessible way to get your words out into the world.
Button labelSubmission Requirements
- Work must be your own.
- Work must be previously unpublished. (Sharing on your personal blog/website/socials/etc is *not* disqualifying!)
- Writer must identify as queer or under the 2SLGBTQIA+ umbrella.
- Poems must fit onto a 4" x 6" postcard in size 12 font, single spaced. (Ideally one-sided, but we can make some exceptions for longer poems.)
- Absolutely no AI usage may be used in the creation of your work.
- All accepted submissions will be required to sign a simple contract granting us license to feature your poem. This contract does *not* grant us ownership of your poem, nor does it grant us permission for future reuse, reprinting, resale, or publication outside of Queer Poem Club.
