About Us

Tired of sifting through countless shelves only to find the same old narratives? We were too.

That’s why we created Beck’s Books—a queer-owned haven for literary diversity. Beck’s was born out of the need for accessibly priced books by authors who are often underrepresented on bookstore shelves.

Our mission? To center and celebrate marginalized voices and underrepresented stories, all at prices that won’t break the bank. We’re not just selling books; we’re cultivating a community where every story is valued.

At Beck’s, we believe in:

  • Community: Building connections through shared stories.

  • Solidarity: Uplifting voices often left unheard.

  • Liberation: Freeing minds through accessible literature.

As we grow, we’re committed to giving back. Look forward to free community pop-ups and donations to local mutual aid and non-profit organizations.

Ready to dive in? Shop with us online, catch us at pop-ups around the Twin Cities, or support our work directly by donating. At Beck’s, every purchase turns a new page in our shared story.

Meet the Owners!

Beck

they/she

Howdy, I’m Beck! I’m co-owner and namesake of Beck’s Books. I’m a double Leo, a proud plant parent, and a non-fiction lover.

I’ve been a passionate reader for my entire life, but grew up pretty siloed in a vastly white, cishet, Christian community. The world opened up to me in college when I was finally given the resources to read about lived experiences, perspectives, and ideas I never even knew existed. That’s why I believe so strongly in making literature by marginalized voices easy to find, accessibly priced, and fun!

Hey, I’m Tyler! The other co-owner of Beck’s Books. I’m a a music lover, a fiction reader, and a lifelong learner.

I started my journey into reading later in adulthood. Because of undiagnosed ADHD, I’ve always struggled with reading, but I’ve been learning what works for me, as well as some tips and tricks I’m happy to share with other folks who want to read but don’t know how to get back into it!
